It is a great privilege to host the 33rd European Workshop for Rheumatology Research in Prague, the Czech Republic, from 28th February to 2nd March 2013. This world renowned workshop is recognized as one of the most important and high-quality meetings in rheumatology. For many years, EWRR has served as an excellent platform where basic, clinical and translational scientists come together to present and discuss their research. It has been acknowledged by many participants that it is not only the top quality science but also the friendly atmosphere, supportive environment and keen interest in the presented work that makes this workshop special and memorable. It is our intention to continue with this spirit and provide ample time for poster presentations and to actively stimulate discussions and interactions among participants.
The main target audience of the meeting are young scientists. Many of those who attended this workshop in previous years came back as successful and established leaders. This meeting is therefore specifically dedicated to support communication between young and more experienced scientists by intentionally removing any barriers that might exist.
Presentations of posters and selected oral abstract presentations by young scientists form the main structure of the workshop. Traditionally the topics are introduced with lectures given by invited world leaders to provide a broad perspective and show cutting edge science.
The end of February in Prague may be quite cold with freezing temperatures; you are advised to be prepared. However, it may also show the first signs of spring and we hope that the promising feeling such a season brings will positively inspire the atmosphere of the meeting.
We hope that EWRR 2013 will be an interesting meeting for you and that you will enjoy your stay.
On behalf of the Local Organising Committee and the Scientific Committee,
Jiří Vencovský, Chairman
